Regional structure and tectonics of the southern and central Walker Lane, western Great Basin
Technical Report 1: Regional Setting, Geometry, and Structure of the Northern Fish Lake Valley Basin
The report presents the regional setting and geology of the Fish Lake Valley region through text, geologic maps, structural maps, and gravity anomaly and depth inversion maps used to construct a grid of cross sections (28 figures). The report integrates geologic mapping, stratigraphic and structural analysis, and depth inversion of several thousand gravity points to characterize the geometry and internal stratigraphy of basins underlying Fish Lake Valley.
Technical Report 2: The Stratigraphy, Structure, and Spatial Distribution of the Fish Lake Valley Assemblage in Northern Fish Lake Valley, Nevada: Implications for Li Brine and Li Mudstone Exploration
The report consists of text and figures, 46 map plates of the northern Fish Lake Valley and adjacent flanks of the basin exposed in the eastern Volcanic Hills and western Silver Peak Range, and 18 plates of interpreted and depth-converted seismic reflection sections along the northwestern flank of northern Fish Lake Valley basin in the eastern Volcanic Hills. This report is an extension of the regional synthesis presented Technical Report 1, and integrates 76 borehole logs (depths of several hundred to over 12 thousand feet) with geologic mapping, gravity depth-inversion, and radiometric age constraints, to refine the understanding of the stratigraphy and structure of Pliocene to Quaternary rocks of the Fish Lake Valley assemblage. The Fish Lake Valley assemblage contains prospective Li-mudstone deposits and in the deepest parts of two structural basin has Li-brine targets. The report characterizes the stratigraphy of the Fish Lake Valley assemblage (3 members) and total thickness of the entire unit and individual members as isopach and structural-contour maps, and illustrates the internal stratigraphy and structure of deep (>6000 feet) basins and outcrops on the basin flanks.
Structure and Tectonics of the North-Central Great Basin
Technical Report 3: Appraisal of the Regional Framework of Late Paleozoic and Mesozoic Contractional Structures in the Carlin Trend and Adjacent Areas, Northeastern Nevada
The report is a preliminary appraisal of the geometry and timing of superposed folds in and adjacent to the Carlin Trend in northeastern Nevada. Superposed folds and cleavage provide the geometrical constraints for sequential development of five-generations of structures. Timing constraints three periods of regional contractional deformation is established through the measurement of structures in rocks of different ages.
Technical Report 4: Evolution of Cenozoic Structures in the Crescent Valley Region of North-Central Great Basin
The report integrates geologic mapping, potential field geophysics, seismic reflection profiles, and kinematic analysis of faults to establish the geometric linkage amongst high-angle faults and how the structures evolved during Cenozoic changes in regional extension direction.
Technical Report: 5 Characterization and Assessment of Mineral Deposit Control by Superposed Phanerozoic Structures in the Northwest and North-Central Great Basin
The report provides regional context for the development of large-scale structural domes that localize mineralization in the northern Great Basin. The geometry and tectonic history of late Paleozoic to Mesozoic thrusts and folds are characterized in text, figures, and a series of tectonic maps for the region.
Structure and Tectonics of Northern Alaska and Northwestern Canada
Technical Report 6: Structural Analysis of the Canning River and Philip Smith Region of the Brooks Range and North Slope, Eastern Arctic Alaska
The report consists of text, 7 well logs from the northeastern North Slope (Arctic National Wildlife Refuge), X seismic reflection profiles, regional geologic map (1:500,000 scale), and restorable cross sections along 3 north-south profiles and 1 east-west profile through the northeastern Brooks Range and North Slope foreland basin. The restorable sections provide constraints for forward models for sequential imbrication of thrust sheets.
Technical Report 8: Structural Analysis of the Porcupine Shear Zone and the Kaltag, Tozitna, and Tintina Fault Zones, Northeastern Alaska and Northwestern Canada
The report contains text, compilation map (1:750,000 scale), kinematic analysis of major strike-slip structures, and timing relations outlining the displacement history on the Porcupine Shear Zone and the Kaltag, Tozitna, and Tintina Fault Zone and their relationship to the opening of the Yukon Flats Basin. Kinematic analysis of folds and faults indicates significant reorganization of displacement directions on the structures through the Mesozoic and Cenozoic.
